Putting good into practice

The National Data Guardian has launched the Putting good into practice project with Understanding Patient Data and Sciencewise to explore how people weigh up the benefits and disadvantages of health and social care data sharing for purposes beyond their own individual care.

Previous research has shown that the extent of public benefit is the key condition to people’s acceptance of such data use. This dialogue will improve our understanding of how the public assesses and weighs the public benefits and disadvantages of proposed data uses in a range of scenarios. We will be running public dialogue workshops in the autumn/winter of 2020. There’s more info about the project here.

Oversight group

In order to ensure that the public dialogue is being designed in a balanced and accessible way and that the engagement is as far reaching as possible, an oversight group has been formed. This group will provide advice and challenge to the project.

This page brings together a number of documents related to this group in order that its work is transparent.
