The Committee held a further joint meeting of the political parties to discuss the recommendations made in their 2017 report, Intimidation in Public Life.

Following our second meeting on 27 March 2019, Chair of the Committee, Lord Evans said:

‘It is clear that political parties have done a great deal of work internally to address intimidatory behaviour and improve their own processes to call out and address unacceptable behaviour where they can.

Building on that, there is goodwill and commitment from those political parties who attended our meeting on 27 March to make further joint progress.

CSPL has undertaken to work with the parties to agree a source of independent support to help take the next step towards committing to a common approach.’

The following parties were represented at the meeting:

  • Green Party
  • Labour Party
  • Liberal Democrats
  • Scottish National Party

Although the Conservative Party and Plaid Cymru were not able to be present at this meeting they have also subsequently confirmed their commitment to making further joint progress.

The Committee will publish an update on further progress in due course.
