Thank you for your information request, dated 4th January 2022, where you asked for information regarding an email containing ‘all main documents that presently exist in relation to medical device implants in the UK and also any ones particular to Scotland’.

I can confirm that the MHRA does hold some of the information that you have requested. However, we have also determined that the information is exempt under Section 21 of the Freedom of Information Act – Information accessible by other means: the information you have requested is already in the public domain, and can be found at implant - Search - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk). The Act’s section 21 exemption states that there is no right of access to information via FOI if it is reasonably available to the applicant by another route.

If you disagree with how we have interpreted the Freedom of Information Act 2000 with regards to your request, you can ask for the decision to be reviewed. The review would be carried out by a senior member of the Agency who was not involved with the original decision.

If you have a query about the information provided, please reply to this email.

If you were to remain dissatisfied with the outcome of the internal review, you would have the right to apply directly to the Information Commissioner for a decision.
