Case study research in to the nature of competition in 5 commonly used types of online platforms:

  • search engines
  • short-term accommodation
  • music platforms
  • price comparison websites
  • social networks

The research generally finds evidence of positive competitive outcomes, even where platform markets appear concentrated.
