Supplementary notes to Sickness Absence in the Civil Service

Sickness Absence in the Civil Service - Management Information up to 31 March 2020 includes details of all the departments and organisations which have taken part in the data collection (see tables from page 9 onwards). This note provides supplementary information and amendments.

  • The tables in the report provide the latest coverage for Q1 2020 i.e. sickness absence data for the year leading up 31 March 2020.
  • Cabinet Office Q1 2020 data coverage does not include the Government Equality Office but does include the Equality and Human Rights Commission.
  • Ministry of Defence Q1 2020 data coverage includes the Submarine Delivery Agency but does not include the Royal Fleet Auxiliary.
  • Scottish Government Q1 2020 data also includes Forestry and Land Scotland and Scottish Forestry.
  • Competition and Market Authority data has been recently revised post-data collection from an average of 4.4 working days lost per staff year to 4.8 days - see page 3 of the report and Table 3. This breaks down to 2.5 short term average working days lost and 2.3 long term.
