Oakley Farming Ltd has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from mudstone and sandstone aquifers by means of three boreholes at Dorrington, Shropshire at National Grid References SJ 46445 03135, SJ 46396 03265 and SJ 46304 03370.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 11 cubic metres an hour

  • 264 cubic metres a day

  • 96,360 cubic metres a year

  • between 1 April and 31 March inclusive in each year.

The water will be used for agricultural purposes other than irrigation and for domestic uses.
