Minister of State for Trade Policy

Responsibilities

The Minister of State for Trade Policy oversees the Trade Policy Group, which leads for the department on developing, coordinating and delivering a new trade policy. The minister also acts as deputy to the Secretary of State for International Trade.

The minister’s responsibilities include:

  • trading agreements and arrangements with other countries
  • UK engagement with the World Trade Organization
  • ongoing EU trade business while the UK remains a member of the EU
  • trade remedies

Additionally, the minister leads on:

  • bills for the Department for International Trade (DIT)
  • secondary legislation
  • economic diplomacy, Prosperity Fund, and economic horizons markets
