Gel product attribute study: results report.

Abstract

This study was conducted in urban areas of Kenya, South Africa and Zambia between February and May 2006 to investigate what women and some of their male partners thought of 3 (placebo) vaginal gels. 543 women were recruited, and interviewed 4 times each. It was found that: the gel of intermediate viscosity was preferred; most women liked the fact that the gels were colourless; attitudes to gel smell varied greatly between countries; and many women were reluctant for their male partners to know about their gel use.
