This qualitative research sought to gain an understanding of the impact of regulation on businesses across all sizes, sectors and regions. It looked at both positive and negative impacts and what government could do to improve the experience of implementing regulations.
A particular focus of this study was to identify the specific regulatory actions that are most burdensome for businesses; and to identify any specific types of regulation or specific acts that businesses find the most helpful or beneficial.
A total of 50 in-depth interviews were conducted with businesses of varying sizes and across each business sector within the UK.
