Oliver Richards

Biography

Oliver Richards has been Deputy High Commissioner since August 2013.

Oliver’s recent Diplomatic Service career has focused on Africa. Before Botswana he worked on East African issues at the Foreign Office and was involved in the Mau Mau case in the English High Court.

Oliver has a strong background in Middle East affairs and served in the British Embassy in Jordan from 2007-2011. In his earlier career he also worked on international peacekeeping issues.

Before joining the Diplomatic Service, Oliver worked as a management consultant. He holds a Masters degree from the University of Bristol in the UK.

Oliver speaks Arabic and some French. He is married to Maria and they have one daughter Maisa.
