Dr Liane Saunders

Biography

Liane Saunders is the British Ambassador to Oman. Prior to this appointment, they were the Staff Counsellor at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office from 2021 to 2023.

Liane has previously served in diplomatic roles in the Middle East. Liane’s London roles include Strategy Director and Strategic Programmes Coordinate, leading the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office’s (FCO’s) counter-proliferation work and running its Crisis Centre, as well as work on the Middle East during the Arab Spring.

They are responsible for the direction and work of the embassy and its consulates, including political work, trade and investment, press and cultural relations, and visa and consular services.
