Social media use

Information about HM Prison and Probation Service social media accounts and how we use and moderate them.

Information on HM Prison and Probation Service’s social media accounts and how we moderate them.

We use social media to recruit and retain talent in HMPPS, explain our work as part of the Criminal Justice System and provide operational updates. It’s also a place for people to get application help and advice via comments and direct messages. It’s important that our social channels remain open for people to be able to access this support.

Staff across HMPPS are featured in our advertisements and we have a duty of care to them. We believe in fair and open recruitment of people to HMPPS and support our staff bringing their whole selves to work without fear of judgement or harassment.

We moderate all our channels to encourage constructive debate, manage abusive comments and remove misinformation shared on posts. When posting comments, please observe our community guidelines set out below.

For further information please see advice from each of the social media channels: TwitterFacebookLinkedIn, Instagram and YouTube.

On rare occasions, we may block users from the page if the nature of their comments does not change, but we will always warn you of this and highlight our commenting guidelines before doing so.
