Compensation for victims of terrorist attacks abroad

You may be able to claim compensation if you’ve been a victim of terrorism abroad since 27 November 2012.

You may be able to claim if one of the following apply:

  • you were injured physically or mentally in a specific act of terrorism
  • you were a witness to a specific act of terrorism where a loved one was injured
  • you’re the partner or close family member of someone killed in a specific act of terrorism

You must also:

  • be a British, EU, EEA or Swiss citizen, member of the UK armed forces (or a close relation or family member)
  • have lived in the UK for 3 years immediately before the terrorist incident happened

  • attack in Mogadishu, Somalia (27 November 2022)
  • attack in Mogadishu, Somalia (19 August 2022)
  • attack in Torre-Pacheco, Spain (17 September 2021)
  • attacks in Kabul, Afghanistan (26 August 2021)
  • attack in Palma, Mozambique (24 March 2021)
  • attacks in Sri Lanka (21 April 2019)
  • attacks on mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand (15 March 2019)
  • attack in Stockholm, Sweden (7 April 2017)
