Understanding long-term nonprogressors - September 2006. What can AIDS vaccine researchers learn from studying people who are HIV infected but progress more slowly to AIDS?

Abstract

Studies of people who have HIV but have not progressed to AIDS within a decade are outlined. The possible ways in which the immune systems of these people could be keeping the disease in check are given and a new study examining the genomes of several thousand non-progressors is described.
