Abstract

Magale is a small agricultural village in E. Uganda. It received electricity from spare capacity from a generator installed to power the local hospital, but unsustainable use led to the sales being suspended. Background, financing, public-private partnerships, access to electricity, and livelihood benefits are summarized of the scheme when operating, and problems which led to the collapse of the distribution of spare capacity outlined..
