This statutory guidance is for:

  • local authorities
  • local commissioners of health services
  • Jobcentre Plus

You must follow this guidance when carrying out duties relating to children’s centres under the Childcare Act 2006.

Statutory guidance sets out what schools and local authorities must do to comply with the law. You should follow the guidance unless you have a very good reason not to.

This guidance replaces the guidance published October 2010.
