Right to Contest privacy notice

This notice sets out how we will use your personal data, and your rights. It is made under Articles 13 and/or 14 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
In order to process your request we will share this form with the site owner. This is to discuss the application and obtain any relevant information pertinent to it.

Purpose
The purpose(s) for which we are processing your personal data is to process your request. We will share this form with the site owner to discuss the application and obtain any relevant information pertinent to it.
Legal basis of processing
The legal basis for processing your personal data is: the processing carried out in the public interest and in the exercise of the controller’s official authority, which includes processing of personal data that is necessary for the exercise of a function of the Crown, a Minister of the Crown or a government department; and an activity that supports or promotes democratic engagement.
In order to process an application under the Right to Contest we will share details of the application with the site owner.
Recipients
Your personal data will be shared by us with the site owners as appropriate. As your personal data will be held on our IT infrastructure, it will also be shared with our data processors who provide email, and document management and storage services to us.
Retention
Your personal data will be kept by us for 5 years once a case has concluded.
Your rights
You have the right to request:
- information about how your personal data is processed, and to request a copy of that personal data
- any inaccuracies in your personal data are rectified without delay
- any incomplete personal data are completed, including by means of a supplementary statement
- that your personal data are erased if there is no longer a justification for them to be processed
- in certain circumstances (for example, where accuracy is contested) to request that the processing of your personal data is restricted.
You have the right to object to the processing of your personal data where it is processed for direct marketing purposes.
Complaints
If you consider that your personal data has been misused or mishandled, you may make a complaint to the Information Commissioner, who is an independent regulator. The Information Commissioner can be contacted at:
