Description of the measure
The MCA’s proposal introduces mandatory set of safety standards for small fishing vessels of 15 metres or less, relating to:
- survey and inspection
- construction, watertight and weathertight integrity
- stability
- machinery and electrical installations
- fire protection
- protection of personnel and man overboard recovery
Measures to mitigate impacts on Small Businesses
N/A Note: The IA provides sufficient reasoning as to why SMBs should not be exempt from the proposal, given the higher-than-average fatality and injury rates in small fishing vessels.
