London Borough of Sutton has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a licence to abstract water from the River Wandle at National Grid Reference (NGR) TQ 27916 66622 to transfer it to Spencer Road Wetland Local Nature Reserve at NGR TQ 27916 66622 without intervening use.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 11 cubic metres an hour

  • 265 cubic metres a day

  • 96,990 cubic metres a year

  • between 1 April and 31 March inclusive in each year.

Further details are: all abstracted water will be returned to the River Wandle at NGR TQ 27938 66763 and via Mill Stream at NGR TQ 27907 66743.
