Dear Colleague,

Regulation fees in 2023/24

I am writing to provide an update on the regulator’s annual fees for 2023/24.

For the last two successive years we have been able to absorb inflationary cost pressures without increasing our income. For 2023/24, however, it is necessary to increase our overall fee income to reflect rising costs. The fee per home paid by large providers, with 1,000 or more homes, will be £5.40 in 2023/24, increasing from £5.31 in 2022/23, an increase of 1.7%. Fees for providers with fewer than 1,000 homes will remain at £300 per year.

Invoices for 2023/24 annual fees will be issued in March and full payment instructions will be provided with the invoices.

We rebate any unspent fees to large private providers via a credit on their next fee invoice once our accounts for the preceding financial year have been finalised. Small providers paying the fixed fee of £300 will not receive a rebate as all such providers cost at least £300 to regulate and maintain on the register. A fee rebate will be made this year for unspent 2021/22 annual fees and shown as a credit line on the fee invoice. Providers should pay the ‘amount due’ shown at the bottom of the invoice.

Yours faithfully,

Richard Peden
