DWP commissioned the Methodology Advisory Service of the Office for National Statistics (ONS) to carry out an initial review of the weighting system used on the Family Resources Survey. This was to help the department decide whether a more in-depth full review of the was required and to make recommendations for change or for further investigations.

This initial review of the Family Resources Survey weighting scheme was carried out in June 2013. The review did not find any problems that suggest that a more substantial review and change to the weighting system needs to be implemented for the 2013 to 2014 survey year.
