Displaying the SIA licence in a police-style wallet

Published 15 December 2021

1. Request

I work as security on a government contract. We are wondering if SIA licence holders are legally allowed to wear something like a black wallet with a police badge on them with ‘SIA’ in the middle?

2. Response

I confirm that the SIA does not hold the information that you have requested.

As you are aware, SIA licences are issued subject to certain conditions, which licence holders must agree to and abide by. Holders of front line licences must wear the licence where it can be seen at all times when engaging in designated licensable activity.

A person found using a fake police warrant card may face being charged with false representation and/or impersonating a police officer. It is recommended that any concerns are reported to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
