Guidance for water companies in England.
The Environment Agency and Natural England produced the water industry strategic environmental requirements (WISER). It describes the statutory and non-statutory expectations of water companies for price review 2024. It sets out:
- issues and opportunities they should consider to meet those environmental obligations
- expected practice
- how they should step up their level of ambition
You should read WISER in conjunction with the WISER technical document and the water industry national environment programme (WINEP) methodology.
The WINEP methodology sets out in one place – for the first time – the overarching process for designing, developing, and delivering the WINEP for England. It has been developed jointly by the Environment Agency, Defra, and Ofwat with the support of others through the WINEP taskforce.
