Avove Limited: application made to abstract water

Avove Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a transfer licence to abstract groundwater from the Tarporley Siltstone Formation at Snarestone Water Treatment Works in the area formed by National Grid References SK 33718 09431, SK 33790 09417, SK 33692 09360 and SK 33771 09343 to transfer it to the River Mease at National Grid Reference SK 33675 09398 without intervening use.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 50 cubic metres an hour

  • 1,200 cubic metres a day

  • 72,000 cubic metres a year

  • all year (see description).

The abstraction is for dewatering an excavation to a depth of 7.5 metres to provide a dry working area for construction. This will be a one-off abstraction for a period of 3 months beginning any time after the licence is issued.
