Phil Boyle

Biography

Dr Phil Boyle took up his post as British Ambassador to Madagascar in November 2017.

Prior to taking up his current position he worked in National Security Directorate at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO). This followed his posting as British Ambassador to Mali and Niger from 2012 to 2014. He has also served as Consul General in Lille, France, and as a Political Officer in both Pakistan and Yemen. He holds a degree and a PhD in chemistry and, before becoming a diplomat, carried out postdoctoral research at the Inorganic Chemistry Laboratory at the University of Oxford.
