Nicolette Brent MBE

Biography

Nicolette Brent was appointed British High Commissioner to the Republic of Vanuatu in June 2022.

Before that, Nicolette was Consul General in Miami 2018 to 2022, where she led the government’s work promoting UK economic, political and consular interests in Miami, the state of Florida, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.

Nicolette was Deputy Head of Crisis Management Department in London 2015 to 2018, helping the Foreign & Commonwealth Office and its global network prepare for crises. She managed the FCDO response to crises, including the Nepal earthquake, terrorist attacks in Tunisia, France, Belgium and UK, conflict in South Sudan, the political crises in Zimbabwe and Gambia, as well as hurricanes in the Caribbean during 2017.

Nicolette has served in a variety of roles overseas, as Head of Governor’s Office in the British Virgin Islands, Deputy Consul General in Iraq, Vice Consul in Lebanon and earlier postings in Greece, Malaysia, Thailand and Egypt.

In the UK Nicolette’s roles have included Head of the Overseas Security Team and Kidnap Response Manager in Counter Terrorism Department.

Nicolette was awarded the MBE for her work in northern Iraq.

British High Commissioner to Vanuatu

The High Commissioner is the UK government’s representative in a Commonwealth nation. They are responsible for the direction and work of the High Commission and its Deputy High Commissions and/or Consulates, including political work, trade and investment, press and cultural relations, and visa and consular services.
