Michael Yelland Moon

Biography

Mike was the Director of Trade & Investment at the British Embassy Manila from 2015 to 2018. Mike had been a British diplomat for over 30 years.

He specialised in trade, investment and economic work. His previous overseas posting was as Deputy Ambassador at the British Embassy in Prague. Previously he served as Director of Inward Investment at the British Consulate General in Toronto where he worked with companies including Bombardier, Research In Motion and Ontario Teachers’ Pension Fund.

Mike has served in counties including Sudan, Belgium and Brunei. Short term assignments include Zambia, Ethiopia, Iraq, Qatar, Belize, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Switzerland and Turkey.

During his career he has been seconded to the (then) Department of Trade and Industry and has completed short attachments to Regional Development offices in Bristol and London.

Mike is married to Jo-Anne and they have three daughters. He is a passionate Cornishman who enjoys squash, walking and reading. He is a keen follower of the English football team – Plymouth Argyle.
