Matthew Rees

Biography

Matthew was appointed Director of Regulation and Economics in March 2016.

Matthew began his career at KPMG audit, qualified as a Chartered Accountant and then specialised in business valuations. He moved to investment banking, working for the technology, media and telecom teams of Merrill Lynch, Deutsche Bank and JPMorgan. In his public sector career Matthew advised the UK Competition Commission in relation to merger and market investigations, economic regulation cases, and divestiture remedies. He joined the National Audit Office in 2014 and established a new corporate finance team focusing on value for money reviews of privatisations, asset sales and infrastructure financing.
