£19 million to regenerate Catterick Garrison’s Town Centre (Levelling Up Fund 2)

£19 million from the Levelling Up Fund has been allocated to improvements to Catterick Garrison Town Centre Coronation Park and the land surrounding Shute Road.

Regenerating the town centre

The project will create:

  • a mixed-use Community and Enterprise Facility. This will include facilities for start-ups and small business units and a central hub for community groups and events, including a community kitchen and park activities
  • a new town square, improvements to Coronation Park, and enhanced public realm including community gardens
  • pedestrian and cycling route upgrades to increase accessibility and connectivity in the town

The funding will make the town centre a more attractive place for the community to enjoy and drive further investment into the area.

North Yorkshire Council’s Richmond (Yorks) Area Constituency Planning Committee chairman, Cllr David Webster, said:

This scheme will see significant improvements to the centre of Catterick Garrison as well as contribute to our work to reduce carbon emissions through the use of sustainable design and renewable energy.

James Roy, estates manager for the Defence Infrastructure Organisation, said:

Catterick is an important Garrison for the British Army and this is a significant milestone for the redevelopment proposals. We continue to recognise the need for regeneration of urban areas, to benefit both military and civilian communities.
