£19 million culture boost for Bexhill (Levelling Up Fund 2)

Over £19 million from the Levelling Up Fund will support a cultural regeneration in Bexhill.

Transforming and upgrading the De La Warr Pavilion

The De La Warr Pavilion first opened in 1935 on Bexhill seafront. The arts centre now plays an important part in the community, where local people can experience contemporary exhibitions, events and entertainment. Levelling Up funding will support a variety of key upgrades to the building that safeguard its future.

Upgrades to the building include:

  • new community learning spaces
  • refurbishment of galleries and auditorium facilities
  • improved accessibility
  • new facilities for conferences and events

New community facilities at Sidley Recreational Grounds

The De La Warr Pavilion and Heart of Sidley have developed and delivered a variety of programmes for the community for over ten years. Levelling Up funding will support the development of a new community centre at Sidley Recreation Ground for the programmes to be held.

The new community centre will include:

  • new learning spaces
  • upgrades to the current changing room and toilet facilities making them more accessible
  • space for local residents and community groups to host workshops and training sessions

The new facilities will better connect Sidley and the De La Warr Pavilion with the town centre.
