November 2016: Promotion of iCal D3 by Stirling Anglian

Published 22 December 2016

MHRA received a complaint from Consilient Health concerning the provision of free samples of a medicine by Stirling Anglian representatives at the Scottish Prescribing Advisers Association Annual Conference held on 24th October in Glasgow. The complainant was concerned that free samples of iCal D3 chewable tablets were handed out to healthcare professionals to allow them to taste the medicine.

MHRA upheld the complaint. Stirling Anglian agreed to take action to ensure that samples of a medicine are not provided to healthcare professionals unless the requirements of regulation 298 are met.
