The Environment Agency and the Office for Nuclear Regulation have completed their Generic Design Assessment (GDA) of the UK HPR1000 nuclear power station.

They concluded that it is capable of meeting high standards of safety, security and environmental protection and is suitable for construction in the UK.

See the final decision documents which explain the reasons for their decision. They also provide responses to the matters raised during consultation. The 8 updated assessment reports are part of this group of final decision documents.

Detail of feedback received

We received 52 responses:

  • 18 from organisations
  • 34 from individuals

We have published the responses without editing them, where we were given permission to do so.

As a result of the points raised we may amend our preliminary conclusions. And if so, we will update our assessment reports.

For points raised outside of our responsibilities, we will pass a copy of the consultation response document to the appropriate organisation for their consideration.

The consultation response document does not contain our response to the points raised. This will be in the final decision document.

Updated the consultation outcome to reflect that the Environment Agency and the Office for Nuclear Regulation have completed their Generic Design Assessment (GDA) of the UK HPR1000 nuclear power station.
