List of large producers on the report packaging data service

This is a list of large organisations (‘producers’) who have reported their data using the report packaging data (RPD) service.

Details

For some packaging activities, this list may help you work out who is responsible for reporting data. You may also need a record of this information for audits, or questions from the environmental regulator.

‘Report packaging data’ is part of the extended producer responsibility (EPR) for packaging service. Find out more about EPR.

What period this list covers

This list includes submissions up to 14 May 2024 only.

The list will be updated once a week.

What this list does and does not cover

This list covers large producers who have reported their data. It does not cover:

  • large producers who are required to report their data but have not
  • large producers who reported their data after the cut-off date for the current version

This list covers whether an organisation you may work with is classified as a large producer. It does not cover the activities a large producer performs.

This data has been submitted by producers. Defra and the environmental regulators have not corrected any inaccuracies. The accuracy of the data will increase as more producers submit or re-submit data.

This list is not definitive. If you are unsure whether an organisation is a large producer, or who is responsible for an activity, check with them directly.

Groups and subsidiaries

If a parent company has submitted details for its subsidiaries, the list will show those details.

If the parent company has listed subsidiaries but has not submitted further details for them, the list only shows details for the parent company.

These details include information such as Companies House numbers. Where the Companies House number of a subsidiary organisation has not been listed, the Companies House number of the parent organisation is shown.

What is classed as a ‘large producer’

On the report packaging data service, an organisation is ‘large’ if it:

  • has an annual turnover of more than £2 million
  • is responsible for handling more than 50 tonnes of empty packaging or packaged goods in the UK

What this list is for

You may want to use this list if you do any of the following activities:

  • import filled branded packaging on behalf of a brand owner that is not a large producer
  • own an online marketplace that allows non-UK organisations to sell empty packaging into the UK
  • manufacture or import empty packaging and supply it within the UK
  • pack or fill branded packaging

If you’re unsure, check the section on packaging activities in the ‘Packaging data: what to collect’ guidance

How it works

Search the list to check whether you supply packaging to a large organisation.

If an organisation you work with is on the list

You will need to establish what activity they perform on the packaging that you supply to them, as they may be responsible for reporting that packaging.

If you supply packaging to a large producer and that producer does not pack or fill the packaging, or add their brand to the packaging, you are likely to be responsible for reporting it.

If an organisation you work with is not on the list

You may be responsible for reporting the packaging. You should check with the large organisation if you are unsure.
