  • Under to Private Tenancies (NI) Order 2006, landlords have certain legal responsibilities to their tenants. As a landlord, it is your responsibility to apply for a Certificate of Fitness. Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council's Environmental Health Officers will carry out an inspection and a Certificate of Fitness will be issued if the dwelling meets the fitness standards for human habitation. Failure by a landlord to apply for a Certificate of Fitness is an offence which can result in the Council taking legal action.
