Declaration

  • Street Café operations are monitored and renewals will be subject to operators having met the following conditions, in addition to the conditions contained within the licence. Litter / Waste / Refuse Increasing concern and complaints have been received in respect of the growing levels of waste arising from street café operations. In particular, cigarette butts, napkins and food on the paved areas in the vicinity of tables and chairs are becoming a growing problem. Street café operators must provide ashtrays and waste bins for their customers to avoid this problem. Staff must be instructed to pick up from the paved areas any napkins, cups and wrappings emanating from your café. Council Officers will monitor the situation and issue warnings on any major problems with waste arising from your operation. When the licence is due for renewal the level of warnings will be a consideration in any decision to renew or cancel the licence. Licensed Area Café’s should be aware of the area licensed for the street café activities, see plan attached to the licence. Please ensure tables and chairs are kept within the agreed area thereby keeping free the public highway for the use of pedestrians. Do not infringe on your neighbour’s space.
