Making a consular appointment

Our embassy and consulate deal with a large number of urgent cases each year. Disabled access

The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office and the British Embassy in Jakarta are keen to ensure that their buildings and services are fully accessible to disabled members of the public. Wherever possible, we have made our buildings and services accessible. Sometimes, however, this is not possible due to security or other restrictions. In these situations we will endeavour to provide a service or access to a building in an alternative way to ensure equality of access for disabled people. To assist disabled staff and visitors, we have set out below details of disabled access at the Embassy. We hope this information is helpful.

General Physical Access

There is a disabled access through the pedestrian entrance. If you require assistance, please telephone us in advance of your visit. (Please call +62 (0) 212356 5200 and ask for the Post Security Manager). Wheelchair access to the Embassy for Consular appointments is via the ground floor Consular Section entrance.

  • Steps and Staircases: all internal staircases have hand rails on both sides.

  • Lifts: There is a lift to all floors of the Embassy.

  • Toilets: a disabled toilet is located on the ground floor of the Embassy near the main Reception

  • Parking: please telephone us in advance to discuss parking if required.

  • Floor coverings: floor coverings are safe and even.

  • Doors: if necessary, the staff can assist in opening doors.

  • Lighting: adequate throughout.

  • Telephones: accessible to wheelchair users.

Access for Visually Impaired Visitors

  • Signs: generally clear and easy to read.

  • Guide dogs: guide dogs are welcome.

Access for Deaf/Hard of Hearing Visitors

  • Induction Loop (AFILS) is provided for the benefit of hearing aid users

  • Microphones: are installed in all Reception areas

  • Hearing dogs: hearing dogs are welcome
