1. Reminder: academies financial returns

The deadline to submit your trust’s financial statements using the accounts submission coversheet is 31 December 2018. We have published guidance to help with your submission.

Thank you to everyone who has submitted their trust’s financial statements and accounts return. If you are still working on them, please submit these before the deadlines.

The deadline for your external auditors to submit your trust’s accounts return is 21 January 2019. Please make sure your external auditors are registered and set up to use the financial returns online forms. If you are having difficulties completing or submitting the form, please see our guidance.

If you have any questions, please use the ESFA enquiry form. Please put either “accounts return” or “financial statements” at the top of your enquiry and provide your trust’s UPIN.

2. Reminder: application deadline for Condition Improvement Fund 2019 to 2020

The deadline for all applications to the Condition Improvement Fund (CIF) is 12pm on Thursday 13 December. If you intend to apply, you must have submitted your application by then.

Any application forms that have been saved on the CIF portal but not submitted by the deadline will not be assessed.

If you need help accessing CIF portal or with uploading your application, call the dedicated CIF helpline on 01325 340947. The helpline is open Monday to Friday between 9:30am and 4:30pm.

For all other CIF enquiries, including monitoring returns, loans or scope change requests, please use the ESFA enquiry form.

3. Information: academy general annual grant funding allocations for 2019 to 2020

We have updated the academy revenue funding allocations page to provide high level information about the academy general annual grant (GAG) funding allocations for the academic year 2019 to 2020. We will continue to update this page as we move through the allocations process.

Academies with sixth forms will also find the 16 to 19 revenue funding allocations page useful.

We will shortly begin work on the academy GAG allocations guidance for 2019 to 2020. If you would be interested in helping us develop this guidance from a user perspective, please contact us at amsgfunding.comms@education.gov.uk by 12 December 2018.

4. Information: building component failure

The Department for Education (DfE) and the Local Government Association (LGA) wish to make building owners aware of a recent building component failure in a property constructed using Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC).

RAAC was generally used in construction in the UK between the mid-1950s and 1980.

LGA has published information on RAAC along with suggested steps that you need to take as a responsible body.
