Details

The Taking Part survey has run since 2005 and is the key evidence source for DCMS. It is a continuous face-to-face household survey of adults aged 16 and over in England and children aged 5 to 15 years old. This latest releases presents child data from October 2011 to September 2012.

A release of rolling annual estimates for adults, including the fourth quarter of the 2012 to 2013 survey year, is scheduled for June 2013.

Summary

This report presents the mid-year findings of the Taking Part child survey and is an update on the child section of the regular annual release. The purpose of this supplementary release is to provide the Olympics Meta Evaluation with child data up to and including the Games period ahead of its final report.

Meta-data

The meta-data describe the Taking Part data and provides terms and definitions. This document provides a stand-alone copy of the meta-data which are also included as annexes in the statistical report.

Previous release

The previous Taking Part release was published on 21 March 2013. It also provides spreadsheets containing the data and sample sizes for each sector included in the survey.

Pre-release access

The document above contains a list of ministers and officials who have received privileged early access to this release of Taking Part data. In line with best practice, the list has been kept to a minimum and those given access for briefing purposes had a maximum of 24 hours.
