This notice should be read in conjunction with the code of safe working practices for merchant seafarers (COSWP), chapter 21, Hazardous Substances and mixtures, and MGN 197(M+F) amendment 1 and replaces MGN 451 (M+F).

Notice to

  • ship and fishing vessel owners
  • operators and managers
  • other employers of seafarers
  • masters, officers and ratings of merchant ships
  • skippers and crew of fishing vessels.
