Early years qualifications: pre-September 2014 criteria

Criteria that early years qualifications, started before 1 September 2014, must meet to be classed as 'full and relevant' by DfE.

Details

Criteria for practitioners and staff working in early years settings, who completed or registered for a childcare qualification before 1 September 2014.

If a person’s qualification meets the ‘full and relevant’ criteria set by DfE, you can count them, at the appropriate level, in the early years foundation stage (EYFS) staff:child ratios.

These are set out in the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage.

You should use this criteria alongside the detailed guidance on checking early years qualifications.
