Older People’s Housing Taskforce
Government has appointed an independent Older People’s Housing Taskforce to look at options for the provision of greater choice, quality and security of housing for older people.
Summary and terms of reference
The aim of this taskforce is to look at options for the provision of greater choice, quality and security of housing for older people. The taskforce’s objectives are to examine enablers to increased supply and improving the housing options for older people in later life, and to explore ways to unblock any challenges. The scope of its work focuses on public and private specialised and supported older people’s housing, with a particular focus on the private market for those on middle incomes. The scope does not include care homes. The taskforce may make recommendations covering:
- the appropriate level of older people’s housing
- the enablers and barriers to growth of supply and
- options to increase the range and choice of specialised housing available to older people
The taskforce is chaired by Professor Emerita of Nursing, Julienne Meyer and the appointed members are listed below.
The taskforce will run for up to 12 months, and will produce an independent report to the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) and Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC).
