The role:

The postholder will work collaboratively, primarily with the NDA Group Data Protection Specialist & Information Access Manager, to ensure the NDA meets its statutory obligations under relevant information governance legislation, including the UK General Data Protection Regulations (UK GDPR), Data Protection Act (DPA 2018), Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FoIA) and Environmental Information Regulations 2004 (EIR)

Accountabilities:

•Provide day to day support to the organisation on all matters relating to Information Access and Data Protection.

•Assist in the development and delivery of in-house Information Governance and Data Protection training and awareness packages for all internal stakeholders such as IT, Legal, HR, Vetting, Commercial and Comms.

•Manage, co-ordinate, and respond to information requests under the FoIA, EIR, DPA 2018 (including Subject Access Requests (SARs) and Individual Rights (IR), within the statutory deadlines as required.

•Assist in the completion of data protection impact assessments (DPIA) to identify and mitigate any potential risks to the organisation and continue to monitor the status of the risk.

•Help co-ordinate and support the organisation’s formal and documented record of processing activities (RoPAs) in line with legislation, regulation, and good practice.

•Contribute to continuous improvement of systems and processes to ensure procedures, policies and guidance are updated in line with technology advancements, legislative and social changes.

•Support implementation of the groupwide privacy management tool (OneTrust), including inputting data and managing the administration of the system.

•Provide support on Intellectual Property Rights queries and activities as required.

•Provide assistance in other areas of Information Governance as required, such as records and information management.

Knowledge, skills and experience required:

•Knowledge and understanding of information governance legislation, particularly relating to the UK GDPR/DPA 2018 and FoIA.

•Strong administration skills.

•Strong IT and Microsoft skills and comfortable with embracing new IT.

•Highly motivated with proven ability to work in a demanding environment without direct supervision.

•Strong sense of resilience.

•Good interpersonal and verbal communication skills with the ability and confidence to deal with enquiries from across staff groups and outside agencies.
