Temple Footbridge crosses the River Thames upstream of Temple Lock near Marlow. The nearest address is Temple Ferry Place, Mill Lane, Hurley, Maidenhead, SL6 5ND.
Some of the deck boards on the bridge are in poor condition. To keep pedestrians and river users safe, no one will be allowed to access the bridge.
Repairs
The Environment Agency is the navigation authority for the non-tidal River Thames. We own many structures, including bridges. We carry out regular surveys of all our structures to assess their condition. This helps us plan any necessary remedial work.
On Temple Footbridge, the condition of the deck boards has degraded faster than expected. Some of the boards now have holes in them.
We need to assess what work is required to make the bridge safe again. The bridge must remain closed until the work is done.
Currently we do not know how long the work will take. We are aware of the inconvenience the bridge closure will cause to the local community. We aim to resolve the issue as soon as we can.
