New Assistant Chief Constable takes up the reins

The Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Kerry Smith as our new Assistant Chief Constable (ACC).

Kerry joined us last month and has 30 years of experience as a police officer in several forces, mainly Nottinghamshire Police and Leicestershire Police. She has served at all ranks up to Assistant Chief Constable and brings a wealth of experience to the role.

In her most recent role at Leicestershire Police, Kerry was responsible for Specialist Operations and was the Regional Firearms Lead. She is an experienced Strategic and Tactical Firearms Commander and was previously an Authorised Firearms Officer (AFO).

ACC Smith said: “I am delighted to have joined the CNC and am really looking forward to working with all my new colleagues across England and Scotland. Working for an infrastructure police force with a national footprint represents a new chapter for me in my policing career. I am very much looking forward to supporting our officers and staff in their delivery of our vital mission to protect critical infrastructure and keep the public safe.”

Chief Constable Simon Chesterman said “It was my pleasure to welcome Kerry to the CNC. She went through a very rigorous selection process to get this role and I congratulate her on her appointment. The role attracted a lot of very talented and exceptional people, so Kerry has really earned it.

“Kerry’s enthusiasm and experience will be invaluable to the CNC as we pursue our ambitions for the future of the organisation, and I look forward to working alongside her.”
