G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting communiqués, April 2024

G7 foreign ministers issued communiqués on the situation in Middle East, support to Ukraine and addressing global challenges, following their meeting in Capri, Italy.

The G7 Foreign Ministers of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States of America, and the High Representative of the European Union issued these 3 communiqués after the G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting:

  1. Situation in Middle East: They condemned Iran’s direct and unprecedented attack against Israel of April 13 to 14 and stand ready to adopt further sanctions or take other measures. The communiqué covers Iran, the conflict in Gaza, freedom of navigation in the Red Sea, Yemen and Syria.

  2. Steadfast support to Ukraine: They strongly condemned Russia’s ongoing war of aggression against Ukraine and reaffirm our unwavering determination to support democratic Ukraine. Ukraine is defending its freedom, sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, within its internationally recognized borders.

  3. Addressing global challenges: They renewed their commitment to the rule of law, humanitarian principles and international law, including the United Nations Charter, and to protecting human rights. The communiqué covers fostering partnership with the Mediterranean and Africa, addressing irregular migration, and promoting free and open Indo-Pacific. It also covers addressing global challenges and regional issues, and cooperation with Latin America and the Caribbean.
