The Elections Bill delivers the government’s manifesto commitment to strengthen the integrity of elections and ensure that our democracy remains secure, fair, modern and transparent.

The Elections Bill received Royal Assent on 28 April 2022.

The Joint Committee for Human Rights (JCHR) issued a report ‘Legislative Scrutiny: Elections Bill’ on 2 September 2021. The government response to the JCHR report, published on 18 November, considers the committee’s recommendations and conclusions, and responds to each in turn.
