Call for evidence description

Update: 24 May 2024

The closing date for this call for views has been extended to 11.59pm on 9 August 2024.

The CyberFirst programme was established in 2015, as part of the National Cyber Security Strategy, to identify and nurture exceptional young talent from across the UK that could fill the growing skills shortage in cyber security.

The programme has been successful and has expanded to offer a wide range of learning and careers activities, which have been supported by over 250 industry, government, education, and academic partners.

The programme is now established, but a new approach is needed to ensure the programme can successfully scale and maximise the available opportunities.

The specific aims for the Call for Views are to:

  • Seek views on the future direction of CyberFirst
  • Seek views on the creation of a new alternatively-led organisation to take over CyberFirst delivery and achieve scale
  • Seek views on continuing role of government to support scaled and sustained delivery.

This work was announced at the CyberUK 2024 conference.
