1. Overview

You can get an annual payment from the NHS to help with your study and living costs (known as a ‘bursary’) if both the following apply:

  • you’re studying a dental, medical or healthcare course in England
  • your course starts before 1 August 2017

You may also be eligible if your course starts on or after 1 August 2017 and you’re studying in England to be a:

  • doctor
  • dentist
  • dental hygienist
  • dental therapist

If you’re not eligible and your course starts on or after 1 August 2017, you may still be eligible for student finance.

You don’t have to pay your NHS bursary back.
