Other customs systems: currency conversion

Foreign currency amounts relating to the customs value must be converted to sterling at the customs monthly period exchange rate applicable at the time of acceptance of the removal document.

However, in the case of type D warehouses the option is available to convert to sterling at the time of entry to the procedure or the time of removal from the procedure.

Simplified removal procedures. Importers authorised to make periodic declarations may opt to use the rate of exchange applicable on the first day of the accounting period covered by the declaration in question (Article 172 of the CCIP refers).
