Testing traders' systems: CFSP test kit
The traders system must be tested before they are authorised to use CFSP.
A test kit has been designed to assist officers and traders in testing the ability of the trader’s system to communicate with CHIEF and to handle the different types of CHIEF response messages correctly. The document provides sample messages which once transmitted to HMCE will generate a variety of responses (acceptance responses, syntax errors and CHIEF data errors). The test kit assists officers and traders in constructing and interpreting different message types.
The ‘test kit’ document is available on the CFSP UoE internal and external web pages.
The kit should not be used to perform volume testing. Only one sample message of each type (SDI with error, SDW with error, SDI without error, etc) should be transmitted. The test kit is designed purely to enable basic testing of the communication links between the trader and HMRC. It will not verify that the trader’s internal data or duty management systems are operating correctly.
Once this initial programme of testing has been completed it is strongly recommended that a separate testing programme should be undertaken. This will provide systems assurance on the trader’s operations prior to issuing the authorisation. The systems testing is undertaken by the trader on the ‘CHIEF live in training mode’ service. See CFSP15350.
